Dig Day privacy policy

Last updated: 29 September 2026

Dig Day is made by Nebula Colors, a small family studio. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your location never leaves your phone, there are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no trackers, and we never sell or share anything about you.

What the app uses, and why

Your location. If you allow it, the app reads your phone's location to put the beaches closest to you first. It's used only on your phone and never sent anywhere. If you'd rather not share it, the app still shows every beach.

Beach and tide data. The app downloads public information:

  • beach status from the Washington State Department of Health;
  • razor clam digs, limits and news from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW);
  • tide predictions from NOAA.

These requests contain no information about you: the app asks for the whole beach list, or a tide station by its number. Like any internet request, they include your IP address, which those agencies' own policies cover.

Your settings, saved beaches and shore journal (the digs you record, your bucket counts and the postcards you make) are stored only on your phone. Deleting the app deletes them.

Alerts. If you turn them on, the phone checks WDFW's dig announcements and the beaches you saved every few hours in the background, and shows a notification when something changes. The daylight minus tide reminder, if you turn it on, is set on your phone 2 days before each run. None of this uses your location, and there's no push service: every notification comes from your phone.

What we don't do

  • No account or sign-in.
  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
  • No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software.
  • No selling, renting or sharing of personal data.
  • No background location.

Children

Dig Day is made for families to use together. It doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Your choices

You can turn location access off at any time in your phone's settings; the app still works. You can turn alerts off in the app. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and describe the change in the app's release notes.
